Liebster Award

20 Jan

Hey everyone! I’ve been away from blogging for a few weeks due to the busy holiday season, but it’s time to get back to it! I was recently nominated for the Liebster award by another fellow blogger. I’m sure a lot of people have heard of it but for those of you who don’t quite know, I will explain the best I can.

The Liebster award is given to bloggers by other bloggers and it is awarded to up-and-coming blogs (usually people with under 200 followers). It has German origins meaning “sweetest”, “kindest”, “welcome”, “lovely”, and “pleasant”.

I have Brandi from Lipstick&Tractors to thank for nominating me. I really appreciate it and love reading what you have to say!

Each person is given 10 questions to answer. Brandi asked me the following questions:

1. Where did you grow up? I was raised on a small farm in a little town in southern Missouri. Had the time of my life!

2. Do you have any pets? I’ve had pets since I can remember. Dogs, cats, horses, chickens, pigs, goats, etc. We basically had a small zoo growing up.

3. What’s your favorite recipe? Hmm that’s a hard one because I love food. I’d have to say my favorite things are jalapeno popper dip and chocolate chip cookies. Can’t go wrong with those!!

4. What is one item you can’t live without? Other than food, probably my dang cell phone. It’s just so handy for everything these days and in case of emergency I’d want one around.

5. Why did you start blogging? I started blogging August of 2013 for an Agriculture class. I knew nothing about it until then, but now I love it and want to continue connecting and sharing/learning new things.

6. What was your first vehicle? Haha I got grandmas hand-me-down purple Stratus. It was a fine starter car except for being purple!

7. What’s your family like? Brothers? Sisters? Married? Children? I have a fairly small family that all lives close by and I love them to death. Just have one brother. I’m not married yet, but plan to be in the near future. As for children, the first one is on the way :).

8. What are your hobbies? Wow my hobbies change often. I like to do so many things . I really love the outdoors so being outside playing with the animals, going on a hike, riding four wheelers, swimming…all that is a blast to me. But I also like to read, go shopping, and make things as well.

9. If Hollywood were to make a movie who would they cast to play you? Oh boy, who would they pick? Good question..I don’t necessarily think I look like a certain person, but I’ve been compared to an Olsen twin, Olivia Wilde, and at one time Megan Fox! All of these are ridiculous comparisons I realize and I just found it funny.

10. What do you want to accomplish in life? I’m a dreamer, so I have constant lists going in my head and on my phone of what I want to get done now and in the future. I wanna do everything! I am very adventurous at heart and like to learn new things so the sky is the limit as far as that goes.

Transitioning Into Adulthood

9 Oct

Here I am just 65 days from walking down the aisle to receive my piece of paper saying that I graduated college! While this is a very exciting time in my life, I am also starting to stress and worry a little about what’s to come. I am now entering the phase where you begin applying for “big girl” jobs. I have been reading a lot of helpful tips and I had a mock interview to better prepare myself, but I’d say this is no easy task for anyone.

I stumbled upon a helpful article that I think highlights key factors in having a successful job search. Check out these Job Hunting Tips.

Here are a few strategies to keep in mind:

1. Plan ahead and spend at least an hour or more per day preparing. If you fail to plan, plan to fail.

2. Utilize as many resources as possible.

3.  Network, Network, Network. Life is all about who you know sometimes!

4. Be confident. Go directly to employers and show them you want the job.

5. Be persistent. Do a follow up call or email to let them know you are interested.

6. Know yourself and what your strengths and weaknesses are.

There are so many things to keep in mind when considering a career and your future, but I think with a little determination and a few other things, you can go pretty far!

Weekends at the Farm!

18 Sep

Blackjack, Bullseye, and Fox

I spend the majority of my time in a noisy, crowded town full of young college kids, so the weekends are my time to escape the hectic city life and get some peace and quiet.

Sometimes I head up north to visit my man friend (a.k.a the boyfriend), to do some hunting or take the boat out for a spin. We might grab the fishing poles or simply have a dinner and movie night, either way I’m content and enjoy every minute that I’m there!

This weekend, however, I decided to go home. It had been a couple of months and mom was about to disown me, so I figured I should visit 🙂

Our farm is growing more and more every month as my mother acquires new “hobbies” as I like to call them. We currently have horses, goats, dogs, chickens, donkeys, and more.

Some of our critters:

Not only is there a lot of work to be done at home, but plenty of fun to be had too! I got the opportunity to hangout with the family, work with the animals, go bow hunting, and see my significant other. I’d say it was a pretty great weekend!

Hi! My name is Chelsea Carter. Welcome to my blog. I grew up on a farm in the small town of De Soto, MO. I’ve always had a passion for animals and Agriculture as a whole. I am currently studying Agriculture Business at Missouri State University. I love to travel, learn new things and help others.

My goal with this blog is to share my experiences, inform people of current events, offer random tidbits of information, rant and give my two cents worth of how I view this crazy world we live in. I hope to meet people who share the same passions and inspirations along the way.

Please, sit back, relax and enjoy!
